Syncing multiple cameras can be a huge hassle after a wedding day. I used to sync based on a moment, like the first kiss, but it never seemed to be exact as kisses sometimes last longer than 1 second. I tried out this method a couple years ago and have found it is the easiest method for me. Hopefully, it helps you, too!
1. Take pictures at the same time on both cameras
During the wedding day, take pictures at the same time. I typically do it with both hands and make sure they click at the same time — it can take more than 1x to get it right — pointed at the ground or sky so you know it’s the sync images.
2. Flag the “sync” images
After importing and before editing, find the “sync” images from both cameras in Lightroom and mark them as flagged
3. Note the time
Take a picture or screenshot of the camera (A) capture time you want to sync to. I typically do a quick iPhone picture for ease.
4. Filter Images
Filter by the camera (B) you need to sync. You can filter by cameras under “Library Filter” -> Metadata -> click on camera B
5. Sync Camera B
Select all of the images by camera B, then click on the flagged image. Go to metadata -> edit capture time. Put in the new time (the time in the picture of camera A). Click “Change All”.
After you have changed the time, you should be able to sort by capture time to make sure they are synced correctly.
This method of syncing cameras is my favorite because if you forget to do it at the beginning of the day, you can do it anytime throughout the day. It is common that we remember during the ceremony or at the end of the day. I’d love to hear if you use this method and if it worked for you!
